Ideas to Transform the Front of Your House and Boost Your Curb Appeal

Sprucing up the front of your house does not have to be a hassle and is easier than you might think. The sun is shining and it’s the perfect time get outdoors and transform the look and feel of your front door, driveway or garden.

We’ve compiled ideas for simple things you can change:

1. Low Level Fencing

We have dozens of different styles to choose from, providing a modern, practical and stylish look to your outside space, while also offering that added security.

Give your home a delightful cottage-style appearance with these Hit & Miss Domed Top Panels, which also come with the option of a matching gate. Low level, this panel stands 1.1 metres tall, providing an attractive boundary between your property and the road or pavement beyond.

Our Hampton design is another great low level boundary fence. At 1 metre tall, it is finished with smooth planed timber and its heavy duty mortise and tenon jointed, rebated framework sets off the vertical battens perfectly. There is also a matching gate available.

2. Planters

Brighten up the front of your house with some fabulous flower displays, made easier to manage and care for by planting in containers. We have a vast range of planters available, so there really is something for every taste. Our Linear Planters, for example, offer a neat and modern look which will leave your outside space looking smart. Alternatively the Windsor Planter range, with their castellated top and rough-sawn timber, offer a rustic feel which breaks up plant displays for a more natural appearance.

If climbing plants such as clematis or roses are your thing, the Toulouse Planter and Venice Planter come with an attractive domed top trellis which supports climbing plants, and looks great positioned against a wall or fence.

3. Colours

For a warm and welcoming entrance, two Slender Planters elegantly frame a doorway and, thanks to their depth (there is a choice between two different heights: 75cm and 1 metre), they are perfect for planting up with larger shrubs or dwarf trees. We have painted them in Thorndown’s buttery Golden Somer wood paint, a bright and inviting colour to welcome you home after a long day.

…And if you prefer a pastel shade, we recommend Thorndown’s subtle Cathedral Green and Cheddar Pink paints which complement the natural greenery of plants and colourful flowers in a garden.
